The video game Cyberpunk 2077, based on R. Talsorian Games' Cyberpunk series of tabletop RPGs, was a pretty big gamble for its developer CD Projekt RED, who worked on the renowned Witcher games, with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt being the latest entry in that series. Despite its troubled development cycle and a pretty shaky launch when it eventually came out in December of 2020 after being in development for several years, facing a load of backlash and controversy in the process, the result eventually paid off when CDPR continued to support Cyberpunk 2077 with patches and DLC until 2023, when they released the game's sole story expansion, Phantom Liberty, which, along with patch 2.0 which fixed many of the shortcomings that the game had at launch, was met with tons of praise from critics and fans who otherwise didn't like the main game when it first launched.
